A Psalm 3 meditation spoken to the fearful heart

Hear Me.

You who lie awake at night with the weight of the world pressing on your chest.

You who cannot escape the noise of what has gone wrong.

You who keep replaying what was and fearing what may yet come.

I know how many your enemies are.

I know how many thoughts rise up against you.

I know the voices that whisper, “There is no help for you. You have gone too far. You have missed your moment. You will not be rescued.”

I hear them too.

The world you see is not gentle.

The past you remember is not clean.

The future you imagine is not safe.

So you walk bent over.

Your head is lowered by fear and regret.

Your heart is tired from trying to hold everything together.

But I say to you,

I am a shield around you.

Not because the blows will not come,

but because they will not decide who you are.

You are not what you fear.

You are not what you lost.

You are not what you failed to become.

I am your glory.

I am the One who lifts your head.

Lift it now.

Look up from the dust of yesterday.

Look up from the shadow of tomorrow.

Look at Me.

I do not wait for you to become strong.

I do not require that you fix your life before I draw near.

I come to you in the place of your collapse.

And now I say something that sounds impossible.

Lie down.

Sleep.

Yes, even with the danger still near.

Even with unanswered questions.

Even with the past still aching.

Give Me the night.

I will not sleep.

I will not turn away.

While you release your grip, I will hold you.

When you wake, it will not be because you kept yourself alive.

It will be because I sustained you.

Do you see what this means?

You are not asked to conquer your fear.

You are not asked to outrun your history.

You are not asked to make the future safe.

You are asked to trust Me enough to rest.

Even if a thousand anxieties surround you.

Even if the world trembles.

Even if your heart still shakes.

I am here.

And no voice that rises against you

is louder than My promise.
