Until There Is Nothing Left but Your Name

Let me disappear from everything that makes me conscious of myself, Lord.
Not that I may cease to be,
but that I may finally become wholly attentive to You.
Teach my heart the language of Your Kingdom,
where silence is not emptiness
but the fullness of love without explanation.
Let me breathe the air breathed by Isaac,
by the desert fathers,
by all those who became drunk with wonder
because they discovered that You are more beautiful
than everything they surrendered.
I ask for no extraordinary life.
Only this:
that desire may become prayer,
prayer become wonder,
wonder become silence,
and silence become love.
Until there is nothing left for me to say
except Your Name.
